I came across an organization called Welcome Them Home through a Facebook suggestion. Because we all know that Facebook and Google seem to always know what we are up to! They somehow knew I was a photographer and that maybe this page might interest me. It’s a network of photographers that dedicate their time as a way to say thank you to these soldiers and their families. So I checked it out; the photos on this page were filled with such genuine emotion. Pictures full of ear to ear smiles and tears of joy. It made me think of my friend Celeste and her stories of her son being on active duty. She was a proud and strong mother of a soldier, but also shared her stories of being worry and not knowing when she would hear from her son. It’s people, like Celeste, that deserve a way to capture the moments when their son/daughter/father/mother/brother/sister come home from serving our country. These families are the heart of our country. So I have signed up to be on their list of photographers. I’m looking forward to capturing my first Welcome Them Home session and to making a few new friends along the way! If you or anyone you know in the Central Florida area is interested in a Welcome Them Home session, have them contact me directly! You can also check out Welcome Them Home on Facebook or at their website at www.welcomethemhome.org.
